Comments:

Character
Name: Victoria (“Tori”) Wickstrom
Gender: Female
Birth Date: December 21
General Appearance: Standing at 5'3”, Tori is built like a pixie, all tiny limbs and lanky features. She has light blonde hair, kept in a messily pinned bun most of the time. Her skin is very fair, and her most striking feature is her large blue eyes – which, she often jokes, don't work very well (she wears contact lenses).
General Attitude: An honest-to-god bookworm shut-in if ever there was one. Tori is the type who generally prefers to read about dead people rather than interact with live ones. She tends to be awkward and blunt in person, although online where she can compose her thoughts in writing she's more eloquent.

“I think I've finally found a definitive answer for the issue about tea leaves. I managed to find a few different sources which claim (if my translation is correct) that the leaves in question can't be just whatever you find in your pantry. The blend listed is...weirdly specific. Little of this bit, little of that, little crushed herb, and – get this – a specific amount of blood proportional to the amount of water (some sources say it has to be blessed water, others say it has to come from the earth. I haven't found much information on it other than a few mentions). It's implied that the aforementioned blood has to come from the person whose fortune is being determined.

The making is a Ritual all by itself. Each ingredient is added separately except for the tea blend (which is mixed together beforehand). The cups used aren't described, but from the source's time and location, I can only assume they'd be made from clay or ceramic. The tea-drinking itself had great significance, and one source claimed that it was to show the gods/spirits that the drinker accepted whatever fate was given them.

The images in the tea leaves is a whole other can of worms. There are literally no two sources that agree. For example, the rough image of a lotus is said in one to portend marriage and in another to represent frivolous loss of money.

This seems like an awful lot to go through to get a little glimpse of the future. Sorry, tealievers, but if the oldest known accounts couldn't figure it out, I doubt that modern snake oil specialists have cracked the code. And really, can't we just have a cup of tea without running into spooks and goblins? For heaven's sake.”
